West Tisbury Library Open Mic Community Reading
To be honest, I was never really into open mics when I lived in Boston or Baltimore, and would often leave the venue once whoever I knew had finished reading. Recently, though, and maybe it's because of COVID, or maybe I've just gotten older, but I've really been enjoying poetry open mics and hearing other people's voices. I love polished poetry, but the unfiltered honesty from some of the open micers can be really nice as well.
As part of my role as Poet Laureate for the town of West Tisbury, I host an open-mic community poetry reading twice a year, which is open to all. It's great to hear some of the poems community members have been working on, and can be fun too even if you just go to watch. This just links to the WT Library, but if you're interested drop me a line and I can put you on the mailing list for the next one in April.
